The other day, I heard something so brilliantly useful, that it literally stopped me dead in my tracks.
I was listening to business coach Marie Forleo interview her buddy Danielle La Porte about her (then new) book The Firestarter Sessions over Skype.
Danielle was explaining how she approaches the concept of manifesting her deepest desires:
“When I identify what it is I most want I simply tell myself that it’s a DONE DEAL.”
She went on…
“And then I ask myself: If it’s a DONE DEAL, what action steps would I have taken to make it real?”
(The above is slightly paraphrased, but you get the gist).
SO simple, and yet so effective.
By telling yourself that the thing you want (let’s say, a great relationship for example) is a DONE DEAL, you take away that crippling anxiety that you may never get it.
- Which then moves you in to a space of being able to look for a SOLUTION and take ACTION.
Taking action is absolutely key to making anything happen in your reality.
The problem is that most people are so stuck in the negative belief that they either don’t deserve to get what they want, or even if they do they don’t know how they’ll ever get it.
Which leaves them floundering around in inaction, wondering why everyone else seems to be getting that thing with (apparently) minimal effort.
A common misconception about The Law of Attraction is that you can just sit repeating positive affirmations all day whilst visualizing yourself already having your deepest desires met.
That is the first part of it, yes – but only in order to give you the confidence to start taking action so that your dream can become a reality.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you ain’t gonna get washboard abs just by picturing yourself with washboard abs.
However, if you picture yourself having washboard abs, tell yourself they’re a DONE DEAL, and then ask yourself: If they’re a DONE DEAL, what action would I have taken to get them?
- Well then, you’re off to the races, my friend.
One of my favourite quotes is:
“While you pray, move your feet.”
Taking action is (and always will be) the biggest contributing factor as to whether we get what we want – or we don’t.
I get asked all the time by women how this applies to getting a healthy, committed relationship.
The thing is, when it comes to taking action in romance, most of us are taking the WRONG action – so much so that it actually pushes the love we so desperately want away.
