“Love, without stopping.” – @Persia_Lawson

Does the idea of sharing your ‘truth’ with someone ever fill you with absolute DREAD?

It does me (and I’ve made a career out of doing so).

Because sharing what’s really on our hearts means we risk rejection.

And no one likes rejection.

Some weeks, I feel called to share thoughts, stories + life lessons with you via my livestreams or blog.

That’s pretty easy for me, nowadays.

Other times, the words that come to me are fewer, fancier – and more abstract.

And I don’t know whether just to keep them to myself, incase you think they’re naff.

However, one thing I’ve learned over the years is that sharing what makes me feel most vulnerable seems to have a profound healing effect on me.

If it ever resonates with you, then that’s just a bonus.

So, here’s a song I wrote when I’d lost my way for a while:

PRODIGAL

I see you by the gate -

Arms open wide.

I’ve nothing left to lose, not even my pride.

Past rejections haunting me,

I got what I deserved

But your face looks kind and warm,

You’re glad that I’ve returned.

You love without stopping

And I can’t even start.

You take, you take, you take

Nothing

Could I trust you with my heart?

I collected broken ones,

Feasted on the chase.

Thought myself so very free,

But their cage was caging me.

Pills and potions cannot still

The tooth that knaws the soul,

But you have multiplied the morsels

Of the love I stole.

You love without stopping

And I can’t even start.

You take, you take, you take

Nothing

Could I trust you with my heart?

All I have done

And yet how have I won

Back the one love that stayed

Though I strayed?

Love alters not

Through the storms that surround,

So it seems

What was lost has been found.

You love without stopping

Could I take a chance and start?

I’ll risk, I’ll risk, I’ll risk

One thing:

I’ll risk the healing of my heart.

I’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU:

Are you ever terrified to share what’s really on your mind or heart? What do you fear might happen if you do?

And if you’re feeling really brave, share something you’ve been afraid to put out there (a dream/ a confession/ a gift, skill or talent no one knows about) in the comments below - or with someone you trust.

Healing, growth + opportunity await you on the other side – I can almost guarantee it :)

All my love,

Persia xx
